Centre of Excellence in Molecular Medicine

Research

The research activity of the Centre combines six separate Work Packages concentrated on molecular aspects of mechanisms responsible for human disorders, particularly those known as civilization diseases. It concerns the selected topics of molecular medicine:

  • structure and function of proteins involved in thrombosis and vascular diseases
  • molecular aspects of angiogenesis, its role in pathogenesis, diagnostics and treatment of tumours as civilisation diseases
  • molecular mechanisms of drug hypersensitivity
  • new treatment strategies in hematological malignancies
  • demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system
  • relationships between the endocrine and the immune system
  • genes involved in tumour development

An important part of the Centre is devoted to professional training in molecular medicine. The research carried out within the Centre will be presented to the local and international community.
