Third Advisory Board Meeting
   
     

On Monday, October 24 th , 2005, Advisory Board Meeting of the Centre of Excellence MolMed took place in the Conference Room of the Sauerhof Hotel in Baden/Vienna, Austria. The Meeting was attended by about 30 persons, with the Advisory Board Members:

  1. Prof. Jan Albrecht (The Institute- Centre of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw)

  2. Prof. Herbert Budka ( Department of Neuropathology, University of Vienna, Austria)

  3. Prof. Paul Declerck ( Department of Pharmaceutical Biology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium)

and members of all eleven Workpackage teams.

Two of the Members of the Centre's Advisory Board - Prof. Klaus Toyka from the Department of Neurology, University of Wurzburg, Germany and Prof. Maciej Ż ylicz from International Institute of Cell Biology, Warsaw were unable to attend the meeting.

The meeting was opened by the Director of the Centre, Professor Czeslaw Cierniewski, who welcomed the guests and subsequently conducted the meeting.

The first presentation was given by the Administrative Officer -Aneta Andrzejczyk, M.A., who represented the Board of Directors. After a brief introduction, outlining the Centre structure and tasks of all Workpackages, she presented the results of the Centre activities up to the end of September 2005, concentrating mainly on the accompanying WPs 1, 2, and 9-11.

The presentation introduced the mission of MolMed and the plan for further activities of the Centre. Presentation of MolMed promotion and interaction with society was then given by WP10 leader - Ass. Prof. Malgorzata Czyz. Results of the activities of the Research Groups (WPs 3-8) were presented by their Leaders or Representatives. The list of speakers and the titles of their research results presentations is given below. The discussion of each of WP activities, in which all Advisory Board Members vividly participated, was conducted by Prof. Cierniewski. During the meeting the Advisory Board Members provided their suggestions and ideas for further activities. The presentations of research results provided ample proof of the existing close co-operation among the researchers of our University and several other biomedical institutes in Poland and several countries in Europe.

All the activities and efforts of the Centre were very highly evaluated by all Advisory Board Members, who expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved by the Centre so far. Prof. Albrecht and Prof. Budka gave some suggestions for the form of a final presentation of The Centre achievements.

This very fruitful meeting concluded with an official dinner at The Hotel Restaurant in the evening.
