prof. Michael John Waring

(born in 1939) received his education at the University of Cambridge, Downing College (1958-1964), Natural Sciences Tripos, Part I (1960) and Natural Sciences Tripos, Part II: Biochemistry (1961) and, as a research student (MRC) in Chemical Microbiology, Department of Biochemistry, in the period of 1961 - 1964. At that time he obtained the following degrees: B.A. (1961), Ph.D. (1964), M.A. (1965), and Sc.D. (1975). At present, Professor Michael Waring holds the position of Professor of Chemotherapy at Cambridge University.

Professor Waring is also a member of numerous editorial boards: Biochemical Journal (1974), Antimicrobial Agents & Chemotherapy (1978-91), Molecular Pharmacology (1979-98), Oncology Research (incorporating Anti-Cancer Drug Design) (since 1984), Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (1996-2003), Current Medicinal Chemistry: Anti-Cancer Agents (since 2000), and Journal of Molecular Recognition (since 1987), for which periodical he served as the Editor in the years 1991-1998.

Presently, Prof. Waring is the Series Editor for "Cancer Biology & Medicine" (Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht ).

Professor Waring is the author and co-author of numerous publications in highly-noted scientific journals and book chapters: Nature, Science, Cell, Biochemistry, Biochem. J ., Eur. J. Biochem ., Biochim. Biophys. Acta, J. Mol. Biol ., Gene, Nucleic Acids Research, J . Gen. Virology, J. Gen. Microbiol ., Brit. J. Pharmacol, EMBO J., Proc. Nat. Aca d. Sci. U.S.A, and Methods Mol.
