Angiogenesis, growth factor biology, cancer, vascular cell biology

He is currently the head of the Molecular Angiogenesis Laboratory at the University Bordeaux comprises a research group of 18 peoples. Since 1995 he raised over 15 million Euros in funding. Over that period the research has involved the supervision of 5 post-doctoral fellows and 24 graduate or undergraduate students. He is involved in teaching and training activities at the University Bordeaux, inch. a graduate course on Cancer, Angiogenesis and Tumor invasion. He is also actively involved in the organization of the Canceropoles in France ("Canceropôle du Grand Sud-Ouest"), and is the member of various committees that include the National Committee of the French Cancer Society ("Association de la Recherche sur le Cancer") and the Scientific Council of the Biology department of the University Bordeaux I.
Since 1999, I have also organized annual international angiogenesis conferences with the European School of Hematology and The European Commission has renewed his support for a further four conferences (2004-2008 inclusive).
He is presently a member of the steering committee of the integrated European project (6th Framework Program) entitled "Selective targeting of angiogenesis and the tumor stroma (STROMA)" associating 17 partners that has been recently funded by the EU. Furthermore, he is the co-ordinator of the Marie-Curie Training network STROMANET, which associates 17 partners and which is currently submitted to the European Commission.
